Spam Raider is a firewall that will be used to filter out spam and virus infected e-mails. This Firewall contains multiple filtering technologies that will be continuously updated through Customer Interaction, Blacklists, Real-time Blackhole Lists, Word Filters, Rule-Based Scoring Systems, as well as other many other resources.
When this service is activated you will receive a greeting message containing your username and password as well as the web link to access your Spam Quarantine and Preferences. All e-mail sent to your OneWest address will go through Spam Raider, but the service will not be activated until Spam Raider catches that first Spam Message sent to your address.
Spam Raider will also send you a Quarantine Summary Report. The first time you log into Spam Raider to view the Quarantine Inbox and Preferences you have the ability to set the frequency that you receive the Quarantine Summary Reports. We recommend daily, but this can be set to weekly or never as well. This will show you all the messages that have been quarantined and will allow you to add messages to your Whitelist, delete messages, or have messages delivered to your Mailbox.

Q. How do I Deliver, Whitelist ,or Delete messages from the Quarantine Inbox?
A. To Deliver, Whitelist, or Delete messages you can check the message or multiple messages and then select the Deliver, Whitelist, or Delete button. Adding E-mail Addresses to your Whitelist means that you always want e-mail from those addresses to be received in your inbox so that Spam Raider will not block or quarantine them. The only time Spam Raider will Block or Quarantine messages sent to you from addresses listed in your Whitelist would be if they contained a virus.

Q. What does Classify as Spam and Classify as Not Spam do?
A. Classify as Spam and Classify as Not Spam will allow the filter to learn what you as a user consider to be Spam or Not as Spam. This will help Spam Raider to continue to learn what e-mails you would like to receive and what ones you do not like to receive so that it can prevent these e-mails from reaching you in the future.

Q. What does the Spam Scoring settings do and if I modify them how will that affect how Spam Raider handles e-mails sent to me?
A. It is recommended to use the System defaults for the Spam Scoring, but if you would like to modify these settings go to the Preferences of Spam Raider and then to the Spam Settings tab. Here you will see an option called Spam Scoring and if you mark No beside where it lists Use System Defaults it will allow you to customize what Spam Raider will do with an e-mail sent to you based on the Score it is given by Spam Raider. |
Here is an explanation of each Scoring option and exactly what it does. For the Tag Score, messages that Spam Raider gives a Score above the level this is set at will modify the subject line of the message to include [BULK] and the e-mail will be delivered to your inbox. Any e-mail that receives a Score below this level will be delivered to your inbox without any modification. For the Quarantine Score, messages that Spam Raider gives a Score above this level, but below the Block Score Level will be kept in the Spam Raider Quarantine Inbox and will show up in your Quarantine Summary Report. For the Block Score, messages that receive a score at this Level will be entirely blocked, you will not be able to see them in the Quarantine Inbox and they will not be delivered to your inbox.
